  1. Adjectives to describe this music: Wild, crazy, sublime, colorful, passionate, playful, scary, profound, quixotic, grotesque, beautiful, exotic - not erotic - thoughtful, powerful. And that is just one 12 minute piece, Ravel's LaValse.
    There are so many wonderful French composers that we could not include - Franck, Poulenc, St. Saens, Gounod, Messian - so be looking for Flavors of France Part II down the road.

    Level of difficulty-for players, way up there; for the audience-just right!

  2. Stephen did a great job tonight (Friday) of pulling the Ravel apart and putting it back together. Fun rehearsal. And yes, the music is plenty challenging for the players in teh orchestra!
